Usually these alerts attempt to lure you into providing credit card or payment details to 'clean or remove' the viruses it 'finds'

Please be cautious when surfing the internet. Do not install or accept any downloads to your PC when prompted by pop-ups claiming your computer is at risk and asking you to enter credit card information. By installing rogue software you may actually be installing software that will allow additional viruses and malware on to your machine.

As always, if you are unsure about software, or are worried that your computer may have been compromised - please feel free to call or email our helpdesk (604) 792-0670 and an experienced technician will assist you in removing the malware from your machine. In many cases we may be able to do it remotely from our new Customer Service Portal.

Online help portal coming soon.

We are pleased to announce that we will be incorporating a new online help portal accessible worldwide on our Myriad Corporation website. This portal will allow clients to request help on demand from their location and improve service delivery for emergency technical support requests.

International Development

In February Myriad was asked to provide expertise and training to an international technical mission to Cambodia. I am writing this post from Phnom Penh, Cambodia where we have spent the last few days working with the Cambodia Government as well as private sector partners.

Cambodia is an amazing place, the people are wonderful and the countryside is beautiful! With the addition of Cambodia - Myriad has now actively done business on four continents around the world! Not bad for a little company from Chilliwack.

We are cataloguing pictures and video, and will showcase some of the projects we are working on in our soon to be active portfolio!

They love the rapid response capability, and I love the fact that we are reducing the amount of single occupancy vehicles on the road. It's important for our clients to know - they will always have the option of onsite in person support. It's what we built our business on, and excellent customer service will always remain the core principle of our business regardless of how we are delivering services.

This whole internet thing is not a fad, and apparently I can't use that as an excuse anymore as to why the website is outdated.

On a more serious note - Myriad has come off of a challenging two years leaner, meaner, and more focussed on our three core areas - technical services (now for home and business), design & programming (web, video, multimedia, custom), and hardware and software sales. For those wondering about the name change - we have completed an asset restructure now that includes Ion Communications Ltd, Myriad Information Technology Solutions Inc, and Myriad Holdings Inc, we are now officially known as the Myriad Group of Companies or simply Myriad.

We were proud to celebrate our seventh year in business (January 2011) and even more excited that our little company continues to thrive through uncertain times in the economy. We have our fantastic customer base to thank for that. Owning and operating a small technology company hasn't always been easy, but it has been worth every minute.

Best Regards,

The most severe vulnerability could allow remote code execution if a user opens or previews a specially crafted RTF e-mail message. An attacker who successfully exploited any of these vulnerabilities could gain the same user rights as the local user. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than users who operate with administrative user rights.

This security update is rated Critical for all supported editions of Microsoft Office 2007 and Microsoft Office 2010. This security update is also rated Important for all supported editions of Microsoft Office XP, Microsoft Office 2003, Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac, Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac, and Microsoft Office for Mac 2011; and Open XML File Format Converter for Mac. For more information, see the subsection, Affected and Non-Affected Software, in this section.

The update addresses the vulnerabilities by modifying the way that Microsoft Office software parses files and by helping to ensure a vulnerable component of Microsoft Office uses a more appropriate and secure search order when loading libraries. For more information about the vulnerability, see the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) subsection for the specific vulnerability entry under the next section, Vulnerability Information.

Recommendation. Microsoft recommends that customers apply the update immediately.

Known Issues. Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 2423930 documents the currently known issues that customers may experience when installing this security update. The article also documents recommended solutions for these issues. When currently known issues and recommended solutions pertain only to specific releases of this software, this article provides links to further articles.
